About Al Wathba Fossil Dunes
The Al Wathba Fossil Dunes Protected Area, 45 km east of the city, holds more than 1,700 fossil dunes over 7 square kilometres; geologists put their age at over four million years. Well-lit trails run for about 3 km (Visit Abu Dhabi; ead.gov.ae).
