Khor Al Maqta, the creek between the island and the mainland, is where the bridges come into the city. The Grand Mosque stands on the mainland side; the Ritz-Carlton, the Shangri-La and the Fairmont line the water; Al Qana, nearby in Rabdan, has The National Aquarium and a marina of restaurants.
