On Saadiyat Island the Louvre opened in 2017, Zayed National Museum and the Natural History Museum have joined it, and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi opens on 11 December 2026. In the city, the Cultural Foundation and the House of Artisans stand beside Qasr Al Hosn, and 421 has turned warehouses at Mina Zayed into a platform for the UAE’s own artists.
The museums
Louvre Abu Dhabi sits under a silvery dome whose perforations, in the museum’s own words, create a “rain of light”. A single pass from AED 120 covers it, Zayed National Museum and the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi (Visit Abu Dhabi).
The new art
421, at Mina Zayed, is a cultural destination of transformed warehouses for the UAE’s creative community; Manarat Al Saadiyat hosts the city’s big exhibitions and art fairs.
Music and stage
The Abu Dhabi Festival, held since 2004, runs from 10 October to 19 December 2026 in Emirates Palace, Etihad Arena, Louvre Abu Dhabi and other venues (Visit Abu Dhabi). Etihad Arena on Yas Bay is the largest indoor venue in the region, in its own words.
Craft
At the House of Artisans, by Qasr Al Hosn, Emirati weaving and palm crafts are shown and taught; admission is complimentary (qasralhosn.ae).
Buy the museum pass and do Saadiyat in a day; keep an evening for the Cultural Foundation.
The art calendar
Frieze Abu Dhabi, the first Frieze fair in the region, brings 84 galleries to Manarat Al Saadiyat from 19 to 22 November 2026; the Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial runs in Abu Dhabi from 15 November 2026 to 15 February 2027 (Visit Abu Dhabi).
Our advice: go to the Louvre in the late afternoon and stay for the light under the dome.
